As I said, I think it’s very important not to let what other people might think about your body stop you from going to the beach and having fun.

But, that doesn’t mean you can’t find a swimsuit that helps you feel like you look as good a s possible.

For years, I’ve thought that Lands End really can’t be beat for swimwear, no matter what size you are.  I especially love the functionality of their Swim Minis. Combined with a cute tankini top, they provide coverage without looking like your grandma’s skirted swimsuit. They have a variety of styles, so you can go sporty, or girly.

Another route you can go, and it’s a little unconventional, is to look for “modest swimwear” geared towards women who want swimwear with more coverage due to religious restrictions. I know. That sounds kinda crazy, but look how cute these suits from Jen Clothing are:

You can also find nice swimwear for all sizes at Nordstrom and Swimsuits for All.

We all have different areas we are self-conscious about, and different areas we’d like to enhance. There are so many choices now: one-piece, two-piece, skirted, board shorts…

As Thinposter, there is just one major message I want to send. For the love of everything cute and summery, don’t try to hide in a solid black swimsuit. Look at all the fun colors and prints that are available to you! Why would you want to dress for the beach in a color more appropriate for cocktail parties, the office, and funerals? Why??? Just don’t do it.

No black swimsuits, ever!

(Black also just draws attention to your thighs.)

So, there you have it. Go to the beach. Don’t wear black. Have fun. That is what I want you to do this summer.

    • Isn’t it cute? I think it would be more flattering for someone who carries a lot of her weight in her butt and thighs, rather than her belly, like I do, so I’m not sure it’s a good choice for me, but I love it.
